On the way now on our third and fourth destinations, Banol Beach and Skeleton Wreck both have different ways of attracting visitors. One being the most visited beach in Coron Loop while the other one was a good scuba diving site for Japanese Wreck.

Banol beach is a small stretch of fine white sand surrounded by towering limestone karst. This beach was the stop over of many visitors including us who wants to enjoy their lunch while listening to splashing waves of this bluish water beach. There were couple of cottages available here and it's free but you need to pay for island entrance fee of P100.00 per person.

Skeleton Wreck is one of the many popular wreck diving sites in Coron, Palawan. This site is also known to have a 25 meters Japanese vessel that was sunken during World War II, until now the vessel was still there and it is visible even if you are just snorkeling around the area. 1. Day 02 of my escapade, but this time no more killer hiking but instead I allotted two days of exploring the best beaches, the cleanest lakes and lagoons, and some wreck diving sites that Coron, Palawan can offer. Our first tour will be the Coron Loop, this are sets of islands/snorkeling sites/dive sites that are much closer to Coron Town about 15 to 20 minutes boat ride to reached each of them. I don't know how many they were but some of the sites will be featured in this post( I'll make two destinations at a time). Next day we will visit the farthest sites like Malcapuya Island and Banana Island which I will make another post. Without any further ado.

Siete Pecados (Seven Deadly Sins), Entrance Fee: P100.00

Our first stop was Siete Pecados, which means Seven Deadly Sins. A group of small seven islets that scattered around the snorkeling area, Our tour guide Kuya Nonoy said that the area was owned by someone that is why we need to pay P100.00 per person for the entrance fee. We just docked our boat at the center and there, we went snorkeling. I was amazed by how rich the marine life in this site, corals were all alive and many kinds of fish were present in the area.

After about an hour of snorkeling we bid farewell to Siete Pecados and headed towards our next destination.

Kayangan Lake was dubbed as one of the cleanest lake in Asia since 1993-1997 together with Barracuda Lake.

One must pay P200.00 per person for the entrance fee, a little bit steep but the place was all worthy for the payment. Payment will be directly going to Tagbanua Tribes who inhabited the whole area, a good way of helping this locals who maintained the cleanliness of the place. According to our tour guide there is a much more larger lake in this area but not yet opened to the public(Larger blue section at the middle).

Everybody stopped in this area to took some pictures of Kayangan Bay, this is the ideal viewing point wherein you can also took your personal photo. Syempre di ako papahuli dyan!!!.

After the viewing area, there's another 150 steps hike, descending into the Kayangan Lake. Please be careful with your steps in getting here, some stones are slippery that might cause you to slide, Nonetheless the view of aquamarine lake at the distant was quite inviting. There wooden pathways built on the side so people can walk around.

The place has the right to reclaimed its throne of being the cleanest lake in Asia because until now the water was still clear as if you were just swimming in a pool, thanks to the joint cooperation of the government and locals. Water here was brackish (combination of freshwater and salt water). We have swam for a couple of minutes then departed for another destination. I have just enjoyed my tour here and I highly recommended the place to visit.

After a long and tiring hiked at Mount Tapyas we decided to have our dinner on this Al fresco style restaurant. The place was made up of bamboos and some rows of concrete and woods, Thin yellowish vines hanging from the ceiling welcome every guests that enter this place. Let me present to you....Kawayanan Grill Station.

Seafood Platter A (Original Lobster, Red Crab, Grilled Fish, Squid, and Kibao & Ensaladang Lato)

The Place

Kawayanan Grill Station was along Don Pedro St. beside Coron Sports Complex which is just in front of Coron Municipal Hall. If you are coming from Coron Wet Market walked at the left side and you will passed by Allied Bank and its ATM booth, from there walked straight ahead and you will see a big and well illuminated signage of Kawayanan Grill Station.

What I liked to this place was their All Native Filipino style, having almost all of there structures and furniture were made of bamboos and native material from huts, chairs, tables and bar. The place was spacious and can accommodate at least a hundred guests.

Now for the taste test..(drum roll please) I was a bit disappointed, the foods were lack in some seasoning like salt, pepper, etc as if they were hoarding this. Next the Grilled Liempo was served half-cooked, my friend had a hard time slicing his Liempo and the meat was like a rubber. Lastly, the serving time was too long.

Hiking Mount Tapyas was our first day activity and the first destination in my DIY itinerary. Hearing many good stories about this mountain's summit offering a magnificent sunset and sunrise view of Coron makes me feel excited to reached the top. Kuya Nonoy, our tour guide texted me that he will fetched us around 04:45pm to start our ascend.

General Notes to Consider:

1. The best time to visit Mt. Tapyas is around 05:00am-06:00am to catch the glimpse of sunrise in the morning or 05:00pm-06:00pm to capture breathtaking view of sunset in the afternoon. Just avoid going there when the sun is still up.

2. Fatigue and Dehydration are your main enemy here so bring enough water and take some rest during your climb.

3. Wear light clothes and don't forget to bring your camera.

The first place that I have searched in the town of Coron was a restaurant. Haven't eat anything since I left my home in Manila at 11:00 in the morning then make my touchdown in Coron Town at 03:30 in the afternoon( kaninong tiyan kaya and di sasakit nyan). After I check-in my luggage at Mommita's Lodge I quickly went downstairs and looked for a place to eat. I stumbled upon this little Restobar just a street across Mommita's Lodge. The name of this little resto? Manneken Pis Restobar and Dive Center.

Manneken Pis is located at 5316 National Highway, Coron, Palawan. Just a street across Mommita's Lodge and in line with other famous restaurant in Coron (Bistro Coron, Centro Coron Bed and Breakfast, etc). I found this restaurant quite small, it can only accommodate around 20 persons at a time, also their dining table was also small and not to enough to accommodate large groups of people, but the interior was okay you will love its cute homey interior.

Looking for a cheap accommodation in Coron, Palawan? Mommita's Lodge was the one I recommend for you. Not an ordinary place to stay, I considered this crib as my home for 4 days when me and my college friends explored the enchanting island of Coron last June 23-26, 2012. Mrs. Esther P. Reyes aka "Mommita" known by others was the owner of this lodge, situated at the corner of Rosario St. and right at the center of Coron Town.

Island hopping in Padre Burgos, Quezon will never be complete without visiting Puting Buhangin. Puting Buhangin is actually located at Pagbilao, Quezon an adjacent city to Padre Burgos and the first city you will passed after Lucena.

They used to name this cave "Kwebang Lampas" maybe because one can accessed the back side of the cliff through this cave (just my wild guess). Since most of us are non good swimmers we decided to just dip in the water inside while others went at the back wherein you can do cliff diving.

1. How to get to Puting Buhangin Alternate Route: First ride a bus bounded to Lucena, then get off to Lucena Grand Terminal and take another bus going to Pagbilao (Pagbilao is just one town after Lucena), from Pagbilao Market ride a jeep going to Brgy. Polo. After reaching Brgy. Polo hire a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you at Lukang Beach or Puting Buhangin.

2. Puting Buhangin entrance fee = P50.00

After Borawan Island this was our next island to stop...Dampalitan Island. The island got its name from a flower that abundantly grows in the area, the "Dampalitan Flower". The island offers a long stretch of beige sand, clear water and a spacious land mass that is suitable for overnight camping. Unlike Borawan Island this island has no large limestone formation, instead coconut trees and some pine trees shaded the whole camping area.

As we disembarked from our boat, we immediately looked for our spot to pitch our tent. Since only few groups visit the island when we were there we don't have any problem in finding one. Nipa huts were also for rent, price ranging from P300-P600 depending on their sizes.

1. Dampalitan Island entrance fee = P30.00

2. Bonfire is allowed in the island and they were selling woods for bonfire for only P35.00

3. There are no source of potable water in Dampalitan Island so bring your own mineral water or you can buy at the store near the center.
4. Water that you can used for shower or washing dishes were all also available at the store near the center, P30.00 per bucket and P300.00 per drum

As locals call it Borawan Island blend from two words - Boracay and Palawan. This island got its popularity when Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho: Summer Special featured this hidden paradise last 2011. Since then I was eager to see this place and judge if it is worthy of its name.

Although its sand is not as fine or not as white as Boracay but I found the place beautiful in its own little way. I've been to this island twice but as if the feeling is still the first time. Exactly one year had passed and nothing had changed. It's my second time visiting these three islands of Padre Burgos, Quezon Province namely; Borawan Island, Dampalitan Island and Puting Buhangin and I never get tired of seeing this again. Year 2011 was my first visit incline with the celebration of Pahiyas 2011, after a year nothing have change at all.

Borawan Island

Borawan Island make it to the mainstream when it was featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho: Summer Special in 2011. Since then many local travelers where amazed and eager to see the place that said to be Boracay-Palawan of Quezon.
Together with Borawan Island this island also make it to the mainstream last 2011 when it was featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho: Summer Special. This island got his name from a flower that abundantly grows in the area.
Of all the three this one was my favorite, Why? because I found the place more secluded and serene, the sand here are more finer than the other two plus there was a small cave located at right side of the island which you can swim at low tide.

Notes to Consider:

1. Getting to Padre Burgos?,Ride a bus from Manila bound to Lucena Grand Central Terminal there are several bus company that goes to this route but the most common is Jac Liner in Buendia Station, fare cost P210.00. It takes 3-4 hours travel from Manila to Lucena depending on the traffic situation. When you reach Lucena Grand Central just look for JAY LINER (bus going to Unisan, Quezon). if Jay liner is not available you may ride in any other buses (Barney, P&O, R&R),just be careful and make sure that these buses are via Unisan. Ask the conductor or the dispatcher if the bus is going to Unisan and tell them that you are only going to Padre Burgos, fare cost P20.00-P30.00. From Lucena the next town is Pagbilao and then Padre Burgos. It will takes you 40minutes to 1 hour travel going to Padre Burgos. Tell the conductor to drop you in crossing before the town proper (bayan). Tell him that in crossing where there is sign board "this way to Borawan". From there you can hire a tricycle going to Pier.

2. Boat rental vary from how many islands you want to visit: Borawan Island only = P800.00, Borawan Island + Dampalitan Island = P1,200.00, Borawan Island + Dampalitan Island + Puting Buhangin = P2,500. I recommend

The rain was pouring heavily the dawn before our tour to Nagsasa Cove, everyone was praying that the weather would be fine and it was just an initial down pour of "Bagyong Ambo" who was hitting Cagayan Valley at that time. Prayers were answered and the rain suddenly stop. I packed my North Face Surge (bag that I usually bring whenever I travel) and headed towards our meeting place (Carlo and Iziel's House). Just a mere 20 minutes of walking from our house and I was there. All are set from food, utensils, tents, etc. except from my two friends Edward and his girlfriend, Paula who were still packing their things. After 30 minutes of waiting the two showed up and now ready to stroll the road going to Pundaquit, Zambales.

Our van took about 3.0 hours to 3.5 hours to reached Brgy. Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales the jump-point going to Nagsasa Cove and its nearby coves and islands (Anawangin, Silanguin, Talisayin, Camara, and Capones). Big waves, strong winds and heavy rains welcome us as we reached the shore of Pundaquit. Though afraid of these scenario we still pursue and hurriedly loaded our things to our rented bangka.

Just like a Roller Coaster or a Wild River ride this was the experience that we had when we crossed the South China Sea in the middle of Typhoon Ambo. "Oh di ba para ka na ring nag Wild River sa Star City" mentioned by one my friend during our bumpy boat ride. After an hour we have reached our destination, "Nagsasa Cove".

At first glanced I saw the resemblance of Nagsasa Cove to Anawangin Cove, beach are made of fine volcanic sand from Mt. Pinatubo's eruption in 1991, pine trees nestled in the whole area, and a river at the backside of the cove. I also noticed that Nagsasa Cove has gone to be commercialized, stone houses and many additional cottages were constructed which makes Nagsasa Cove far for its old feature.

It was raining all day and instead of wasting our time waiting for the rain to stop we maximized our stay and stroll the whole island. As we explored the other side of the island we found that there are some lump of rocks that is good in photo-opt but unfortunately I haven't capture our "Survivor Pose" because I don't want to sacrifice my SLR so instead we use other's water proof digital camera(wala pa akong kopya ng mga picture...)

Tired and hungry we decided to came back and start our preparation for our food to eat. There are no restaurants in Nagsasa Cove only small tindahan that sells basic needs like canned goods, liquor, etc. but expect the price to be double due to transportation or transferring of goods to the cove.

Notes to Consider:

1. Getting to Nagsasa Cove is pretty easy, first ride a bus bounded to Sta. Cruz or Iba, Zambales via Victory Liner tell the bus driver to drop you at San Antonio, Zambales the fare is P260.00. From San Antonio, ride a tricycle to Brgy. Pundaquit, it cost about P20.00-P30.00. Brgy. Pundaquit, Zambales serves as the jump-off point in going to Nagsasa Cove and even to the famous Anawangin Cove, boats here can be rented and priced depends to the number of person. I recommend
